      • Efforts to tackle

Political Issues

Democracy in the UK

      • UK Constitutional Arrangements
      • Role of the Government
      • Electoral Systems
      • Influences on the Government
      • Exam Paper One, 1 hour 45 minutes, 52 marks
      • Exam Paper Two, 1 hour 15 minutes, 28 marks
      • Assignment- 1 hour 30 minutes, 30 marks


There will be regular homework in the form of essays and skills questions, and also completion of any unfinished notes or preparation for future classes.

Entry Requirements

Pupils should have attained, or expect to attain, a pass at National 5 Modern Studies. Pupils that do not have these entry requirements are welcome to discuss choices with Pupil Support and/or the Faculty.

Progression Routes

A pass in Higher Modern Studies is a very acceptable entry qualification for all university courses and is well respected by employers.
